67-Year-Old Robert Hansen Dies in Collision Between Pickup Truck and Train in Dodge County

A tragic accident occurred in Dodge County, Nebraska, resulting in the death of a 67-year-old man. The incident took place on Friday morning and involved a pickup truck and a train. Deputies from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a collision between a train and a vehicle near Shoreline Drive and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks at around 8:40 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered the lifeless body of the vehicle’s occupant. The deceased individual was identified as Robert Hansen from Fremont. Deputies were accompanied by the North Bend Volunteer Fire Department during their response.

According to investigators, a maroon Dodge Ram from 2017 was traveling southbound on Shoreline Drive when it collided with a westbound Union Pacific train at the crossing intersection. Despite wearing his seat belt, Hansen did not survive the impact. However, the vehicle’s airbags did deploy as intended, as confirmed by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities have ruled out speed and alcohol as contributing factors in the accident. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing. The train crossing where the incident occurred is located approximately one mile west of North Bend and south of Platte River Road, also known as Old Highway 30.
