22-Year-Old Artez Moore of Bainbridge Found Dead near Carr Lake in Suspicious Death Investigation

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A suspicious death near Carr Lake is currently under investigation by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office after a man’s body was discovered on Thursday. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Artez Moore from Bainbridge, according to a family member who exclusively spoke with WCTV on Friday.

The body was found at Carr Lake around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, prompting the response of the county’s tactical dive team, fire department, and airboats. Crime scene tape has been placed to block off a ramp leading to the lake where Moore’s body was found.

Moore, who was visiting Tallahassee at the time of his death, had plans for a bright future ahead of him. His cousin, D’Marco Murphy, expressed deep shock and grief, stating, “It hasn’t processed in yet because this wasn’t supposed to happen to him. Please just come forth. Help us grieve better. We need that so we wouldn’t be wondering in our minds what happened and how this happened when there’s somebody out there that knows what happened to him.”
