Indian scientist and agriculturalist, Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, known as one of the makers of modern India, has sadly passed away. Dr. Swaminathan, aged 97, was a prominent figure in the field of agriculture and played a pivotal role in ensuring food security for the nation during challenging times. Born on August 7, 1925, in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, Dr. Swaminathan dedicated his life to improving the lives of farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Madras and went on to pursue further studies at the University of Cambridge and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
