Dr Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan, fondly known as the “Father of the Green Revolution in India,” was born on August 7, 1925, in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. He dedicated his life to revolutionizing agriculture in India and was a pioneer in the field of agricultural science.

Dr Swaminathan completed his education at the prestigious Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi. He then pursued his Ph.D. in genetics and plant breeding at the University of Cambridge.
