BALTIMORE – A Prince George’s County Police officer has been suspended after a video of him engaging in inappropriate behavior went viral on social media. The officer, identified as Francesco Marlett, was seen kissing a woman before entering the backseat of a patrol car, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

The video, which was posted on TikTok, quickly gained attention and sparked outrage among viewers. The Prince George’s County Police Department took immediate action and suspended Marlett’s police powers pending an investigation into the incident.

“PGPD Executive Command is aware of a video circulating on social media with one of our officers,” the department said in a statement. “As soon as we became aware earlier today, we opened an investigation to determine the circumstances.”

The video was filmed by a concerned citizen, Nelson O, who captured the encounter at Oxon Hill’s Carson Park. Nelson O noticed the officer acting suspiciously and decided to record the incident when he saw a young woman pull up. He expressed concern over the officer’s behavior, especially considering the presence of children in the park.

“It was concerning because there’s kids around,” Nelson O said. “It just seemed off because this is the person that you’re supposed to call for suspicious activity doing the suspicious activity, you know.”

The video has since gone viral, garnering millions of views on various social media platforms. Witnesses at the park reported that there were several families with children present during the incident, adding to the concerns over the officer’s conduct.

This is not the first time Officer Marlett has faced disciplinary action. In December 2015, he was suspended without pay and later indicted by a grand jury in May 2016 on child abuse and assault charges. Reports at the time stated that Marlett had spanked his girlfriend’s three-year-old son, causing the child to hit his head against a wall and lose consciousness. Marlett was found performing CPR on the unconscious toddler when the boy’s mother entered the room.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is taking this matter seriously and has assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted. The suspension of Officer Marlett’s police powers indicates the department’s commitment to holding its officers accountable for their actions.

The incident has sparked a debate about the conduct of law enforcement officers and the need for increased accountability and transparency. Community members have expressed their concerns over the potential abuse of power and the impact such incidents can have on public trust.

As the investigation unfolds, the Prince George’s County Police Department will continue to provide updates on the case. The department is dedicated to maintaining the trust and confidence of the community it serves, and incidents like this will not be tolerated..
