Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon revealed that a foreign worker, identified as Pakistani Sohail Sajjad, was killed at a quarry in Keramat Pulai. Sajjad had left the site but returned to retrieve his belongings when he was pinned under an excavator, resulting in a fatal head injury. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital. ILI AQILAH reported

IPOH: A tragic incident occurred at a quarry in Keramat Pulai, where a foreign worker lost his life while working on the site. The Perak Fire and Rescue Department director, Sayani Saidon, revealed that the victim, identified as 36-year-old Pakistani Sohail Sajjad, had left the site but returned to retrieve his personal belongings when the unfortunate mishap occurred.

According to Sayani, Sohail was part of a team of workers engaged in clearing the site using an excavator. However, they were instructed to vacate the area due to signs of rock movement. While descending from the quarry, Sohail suddenly decided to turn back as he realized he had left a personal item behind in the excavator. Tragically, it was at this moment that the accident took place.

Sayani explained during a press conference held at the Simpang Pulai fire station on Tuesday (Sept 5), “Sohail was pinned under the excavator, and his body was only recovered at 2.40pm. Despite facing challenges caused by ongoing rock movement, we, along with the Minerals and Geoscience Department and the police, were able to retrieve the victim’s remains.”

The incident resulted in Sohail sustaining a severe head injury, which ultimately led to his untimely demise. In order to determine the exact cause of death, his body was promptly transported to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
