Columbus police have identified the man who was fatally shot at an east Columbus bar as 31-year-old Shawn Grooms. COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Columbus Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at the Lotus Lounge in east Columbus. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Shawn Grooms.

According to the police, the incident took place at approximately 1:40 a.m. when special duty officers working near the Lotus Lounge on Channingway Boulevard responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Grooms suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Grooms was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:50 a.m.
Another individual who was also shot during the incident was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently listed in stable condition, according to the police.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, as authorities have yet to determine the events leading up to the incident. Columbus police are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward and contact them at 614-645-4730.
