Apart from the two fatalities, Ajahliyah’s mother was also injured in the incident. Nico Brown was apprehended by law enforcement officials on Saturday and has been charged with first-degree homicide. The Orlando Police Department released a video of the arrest.

The shooting took place on the 1100 block of Poppy Avenue, south of Raleigh Street and east of Kirkman Road. Nico allegedly opened fire, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a minor. Authorities arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

According to the New York Post, the 6-year-old victim and her mother were shot while they were in the living room of their house. While the mother survived with non-life-threatening injuries, the young girl was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. It has been confirmed that the mother and daughter were not the intended targets of the alleged shooter, Nico Brown.

In addition to the two fatalities, 19-year-old Isaiyah Wright was also taken to the hospital after being shot but succumbed to his injuries. On September 2, Nico Brown was arrested by the Orlando Police, and charges were filed against him.

Residents in the area have provided accounts of the shooting, with one neighbor stating, “I heard the rapid gunfire, and I called 911. They were really shooting.” Another neighbor added, “Pow, pow, pow, pow. I thought it was a machine gun. Pow, pow, pow, pow, pow. They done shot up my house before.”

Ajahliyah Hashim, the 6-year-old victim, was a student at Eagle’s Nest Elementary School. Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Maria F. Vazquez expressed her condolences on Twitter, saying, “My heart goes out to the Eagle’s Nest Elementary community, which has just lost a 6-year-old student to gun violence last night. Ajahliyah Hashim and her mother were victims of a shooting on Tuesday.” Vazquez further emphasized the need to address the prevalence of such tragic incidents in the community.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting and have urged the public to come forward with any information regarding the incident. The case is currently under investigation, and the community is eager to see justice served.
