According to the Folsom Police Department, officers initially stopped an SUV around 9 p.m. on Saturday, suspecting it to be involved in a hit-and-run incident. However, the driver of the vehicle provided officers with a false name and promptly fled the scene, igniting a mile-long pursuit.
In a dramatic turn of events, the driver collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Wales and Natoma Street before crashing head-on into a police car that was positioned in the oncoming lanes. Despite the impact, the suspect managed to escape and continued driving, subsequently colliding with yet another police car.
The chaos finally came to a halt when the suspect veered off the road and crashed into a light pole. Seizing the opportunity, he hastily abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled the area on foot. However, his escape was short-lived as law enforcement quickly caught up to him.
During the subsequent altercation, the suspect put up a fight and attempted to seize an officer’s Taser as he was being apprehended. In the process, both the suspect and one of the officers sustained injuries.
