19-Year-Old Illinois Teen Arrested after High-Speed Chase in LaGrange County

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. – A 19-year-old from Illinois is now facing charges in LaGrange County after allegedly leading Indiana State Police troopers on a high-speed chase late Sunday night.

According to reports, the incident unfolded around 11:30 p.m. when an Indiana State Police trooper attempted to pull over a white BMW passenger vehicle traveling east on the Indiana Toll Road at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Rather than complying with the trooper’s request, the driver of the BMW accelerated, initiating the pursuit.

The high-speed chase escalated quickly as the BMW continued to evade police, clocking speeds over 150 mph. Eventually, the vehicle exited the toll road at the Howe/Sturgis exit (121-mile marker) and proceeded on State Road 9. From there, it turned east onto County Road 700 North and then north onto LaGrange County Road 375 East, heading towards the Michigan state line while still reaching speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Recognizing the potential danger, the ISP Toll Road Post Command ordered the trooper to terminate the pursuit before crossing into Michigan. Subsequently, ISP Toll Road dispatch promptly alerted the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan about the high-speed BMW entering their jurisdiction.

It is worth noting that Kime Road in Michigan is the same road as LaGrange County Road 375 East in Indiana. Responding to the alert, sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene to find a white BMW crashed, and its driver identified as 19-year-old Adrian Ricardo Martinez from Homer Glen, Illinois, with a head wound causing bleeding.

Medical assistance was provided to Martinez, who was then transported to the hospital for further treatment of his injuries. Once released, ISP troopers took him into custody and transferred him to the LaGrange County Jail.

Adrian Ricardo Martinez has been booked into the LaGrange County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement (fleeing) and reckless driving.
