South Sudanese Youth Rams Car into 2 Bikes on Kharar Flyover, 3 Critical with Fatal Injuries

Three individuals are in critical condition after being hit by a speeding car driven by a South Sudanese youth on a flyover near Kharar’s Khanpur village. The driver, El Amin Mudhowi Adwok, was apprehended at the scene, and police are awaiting the results of a medical examination to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol. The injured victims are residents of Nanuwal village and were traveling on motorcycles when they were struck by Adwok’s car. They have been hospitalized with head injuries and multiple fractures. Three individuals are currently battling for their lives after being struck by a speeding car driven by a young person from South Sudan. The incident occurred on the flyover near Kharar’s Khanpur village on Sunday afternoon. The driver of the car, El Amin Mudhowi Adwok, a student at Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE) in Baddowal, was apprehended at the scene, according to DSP Kharar Karan Singh Sandhu.

Upon inspecting Adwok’s car, the police discovered several beer bottles, prompting them to take him for a medical examination to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol. As of now, the medical report is still pending.

Harminder Singh, the investigating officer (IO), revealed that the injured individuals have been identified as Harpreet Kaur (45 years old), Paramjit Kaur (45 years old), and her son Harpreet Singh (23 years old). All three victims are relatives and residents of Nanuwal village in Fatehgarh Sahib. They were traveling on two motorcycles when Adwok’s silver Volkswagen car, with a Ludhiana registration number (PB10-EN-4249), collided with them.

“The victims suffered head injuries and multiple fractures, and their condition is critical,” stated the IO.

Fortunately, the person riding the bike that Harpreet was on managed to escape unharmed. Bhupinder Singh, a relative of the victims who was following them on a scooter, informed the police that the family was on their way to a historic gurdwara to offer their respects.

When they reached the vicinity of Khanpur flyover, a speeding car crashed into Harpreet Singh’s motorcycle, which he was riding with his mother, Paramjit. The impact of the collision was so severe that the motorcycle crashed into the divider, resulting in serious injuries to the mother-son duo.

Bhupinder alleged that in an attempt to flee, the car driver accelerated, causing him to lose control. Subsequently, the car collided with the motorcycle carrying Harpreet Kaur and her relative. Harpreet fell off the two-wheeler and became trapped underneath the car, being dragged for several meters before the vehicle collided with a divider, finally coming to a halt.

Passersby rushed to Harpreet’s aid, managing to pull her out from underneath the car. All injured individuals were then promptly transported to the civil hospital in Kharar. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were subsequently transferred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32, Chandigarh.

Bhupinder further alleged that the car driver and other passengers attempted to escape but were detained by commuters. The police arrived at the scene and apprehended the driver. At the time of writing this report, the police were in the process of registering a case.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the consequences of reckless driving. The victims, their families, and the community at large are left grappling with the aftermath of this devastating accident.
