In a chilling turn of events, officials have confirmed that a body recovered from the Mississippi River belongs to Kirk Craig Sr., a man wanted for murder. The discovery was made by a fisherman on Saturday, Sept 21, and the body was found in a partially decomposed state on the riverbank, according to West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Landon Groger.
An autopsy was performed, and medical records were used to positively identify the body as Kirk Craig Sr. Detectives from West Baton Rouge learned that Craig was wanted for a first-degree murder that occurred in East Baton Rouge Parish just 12 days prior to his body being found.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office reported that Craig had allegedly stabbed his wife to death on Mead Road on Monday, Sept. 9. Following the incident, a car linked to Craig was discovered abandoned on I-10 over the Mississippi River in East Baton Rouge Parish.
