The Baton Rouge police Department reported that a 2003 Honda Accord crashed into a concrete pillar on I-110 South before Capitol Access Road around 10 p.m.
According to authorities, the Honda was traveling southbound on I-110 when the front left tire locked up due to an axle malfunction. The vehicle then collided with a concrete barrier, slid across the top of it, and struck a concrete support pillar for the Capital Access overpass, ultimately catching fire.
Despite efforts by bystanders to rescue the 19-year-old female passenger from the burning vehicle, Donovan Burton was unable to be saved and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
