Tragic Accident Claims Life of Logan Resident Jacob Pratt
LOGAN, Utah, Sept. 21, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Cache County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man struck and killed by a train Wednesday as Logan resident Jacob Pratt.
Location of Incident
The incident took place at an unregulated train crossing at 14300 North just east of state Route 23 in the rural town of Cornish, located north/northwest of Logan and just south of the Idaho border.
Details of the Incident
According to an initial statement from the CCSO, the tragic accident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. when a northbound train collided with a van driven by a 40-year-old male. Despite two westbound cars crossing in front of the train safely, the third vehicle, driven by Pratt, was struck as it crossed through the intersection.
Family’s Request for Privacy
The Pratt family has expressed their gratitude to all involved agencies for their efforts in investigating the incident during this challenging time. They have asked for privacy to mourn the loss of their beloved husband and father.

The Sheriff’s Office has shared a GoFundMe account set up by a family member to assist with unexpected funeral expenses. The account describes Jacob Pratt as a cherished uncle, brother, father, husband, and friend, whose warmth, kindness, and generosity will always be remembered.
