Man Arrested for Fatally Stabbing Roommate in Santa Ana Home

A man has been taken into custody for allegedly stabbing his roommate to death during a violent altercation at their residence in Santa Ana on Sunday.

The tragic incident took place in the 1500 block of S. Lowell Street at approximately 8:30 a.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement after reports of a disturbance at the property.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old William Stephen Nared with a fatal stab wound to his upper body. Despite efforts by paramedics, Nared was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect Apprehended

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old David James Espinosa, reportedly fled the scene on a bicycle following the altercation. However, police managed to locate him a few blocks away from the residence.

According to a statement from the Santa Ana Police Department, homicide detectives have taken over the investigation and determined that Nared and Espinosa were roommates. A dispute between the two escalated into a physical confrontation that tragically resulted in Nared’s death.

Espinosa has been booked on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
