Local Hero Honored for Years of Service in Dixon, UK

A beloved member of the Dixon community in the UK, recently retired firefighter/paramedic David Boucher, was recognised for his dedication and commitment to serving the city. The Dixon City Council took a moment at their last meeting to honour Boucher, who had spent nearly two decades with the Dixon Fire Department before retiring on February 17.

A True Community Servant

Chief Ryan Buskohl of the Dixon Fire Department praised Boucher for his exemplary service over the years. Throughout his career, Boucher obtained certifications in advanced firefighting, Fire Officer 1, extrication, and rope rescue. He also specialised in working with youth identified as being at risk of starting fires, showing his commitment to keeping the community safe.

A Well-Rounded Professional

Not only is Boucher a dedicated firefighter, but he is also a proud U.S Army veteran with a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University. His diverse background and experience have made him a valuable asset to the Dixon Fire Department.

Fond Farewell and Best Wishes

Chief Buskohl expressed his gratitude for Boucher’s positive attitude and excellent communication skills, which will be greatly missed by the department and the community. Boucher was presented with framed firefighter memorabilia and a retirement axe as tokens of appreciation for his years of service.
