Accident – Death – Obituary News : In a shocking incident in Nagpur, two police constables posted at Kalamna police station have been suspended for allegedly snatching a three-tola gold chain, worth Rs1.80 lakh, from a 19-year-old engineering student. The incident took place near the Outer Ring Road on the Jabalpur-Nagpur highway on April 13.

The constables, identified as Sandeep Yadav and Pankaj Yadav, were reportedly moving in the limits of Wathoda police station when they targeted the couple. Threatening the youngster with false charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, the constables demanded money from the victims. When the victims were unable to pay, the constables forcibly took away the gold chain and fled the scene.

The shocked youngsters initially kept the incident hidden from their family members but eventually revealed that they had been robbed by the police constables. They filed a complaint at Wathoda police station, leading to the suspension of Sandeep and Pankaj.

Police initially registered offenses against unknown culprits, but with the help of cellphone tower location and identification by the victims, it was confirmed that the two constables were involved in the crime. CP Ravinder Kumar Singal has urged other victims of Sandeep and Pankaj to come forward and file complaints to ensure stricter action against them.

Sources reveal that the suspended constables had a history of controversy, with complaints leading to their removal from bike patrolling duties in the past. Despite being on duty for five days after the incident, Sandeep and Pankaj have gone underground since their involvement in the robbery was confirmed.

Zonal DCP Vijaykant Sagar has assured that the constables will be treated like any other accused in such serious crimes. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of holding law enforcement accountable for their actions and ensuring justice for victims of police misconduct..
