Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Indian Students in Arizona

Two Indian students studying in the United States met with a tragic end in a fatal traffic collision near Lake Pleasant in Arizona. The victims, identified as 19-year-old Nivesh Mukka and 19-year-old Goutham Parsi, were enrolled as international students at Arizona State University. Both students hailed from Telangana.

Details of the Accident

The fatal collision took place around 6:18 pm on April 20 on Castle Hot Springs Road, just north of State Route 74. The Peoria Police responded to a report of a head-on collision involving two vehicles – a white 2024 Kia Forte and a red 2022 Ford F150. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the red F150 was heading southbound on Castle Hot Springs Road, while the white Kia Forte was travelling northbound.

Tragically, Mukka and Parsi succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident. The driver of their vehicle was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries but has since been released. The driver of the other vehicle, who was the sole occupant, also sustained serious injuries and was treated at a local hospital before being released.

Investigation Ongoing

The Peoria Police Department has stated that the cause of the collision is still under investigation. The area was closed off for several hours during the investigation but was reopened for normal traffic the following morning. Arizona State University has extended its support to the International Students and Scholars Centre, which is working closely with the dean of students, counselling services, and housing representatives to identify the student groups, friends, and roommates of the victims. The university is committed to providing any necessary support to those affected by this heartbreaking loss.
