In a shocking turn of events, a man has been charged with assault after an altercation with police officers during the Morgan Wallen concert in Oxford, Mississippi on Saturday night. The incident took place at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, where deputies from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office were assisting the University of Mississippi Police Department.
Altercation at the Concert
On April 20, officers received reports of a fight in the crowd and quickly responded to the area. They apprehended the suspect, identified as Hunter Steven Flanagan, for assaulting another concertgoer. Flanagan, a 30-year-old man, was taken into custody for his actions.
Confrontation with Police
While being arrested, Flanagan became combative and resisted the officers. He allegedly kicked two officers and spit on them as he was being escorted out of the stadium to the Lafayette County Detention Center. His actions resulted in additional charges of simple assault on police officers by both the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and the University of Mississippi Police Department.
Legal Proceedings
Flanagan appeared before a Justice Court judge on April 22, where his bond was set at $100,000. He is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center awaiting bond. In addition to the assault charges, Flanagan is facing several other misdemeanor charges related to the incident.
