Teen Arrested in Connection to Fountain Homicide

In a recent development, a 17-year-old has been taken into custody in connection to the tragic 2023 homicide of 31-year-old Christian Cook. The incident took place near the train tracks in Fountain, Colorado, where Cook’s body was discovered by a BNSF Railway employee.

Year-Long Investigation Leads to Arrest

After a thorough year-long investigation, the Fountain Police Department (FPD) was able to identify the teenage suspect responsible for Cook’s death. The suspect’s identity is being withheld due to their age. The arrest was made on April 22, 2024, following the issuance of an arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder.

Discovery of the Victim

The Fountain Fire Department (FFD) initially responded to the scene on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, after receiving a report from a BNSF Railway employee about an unresponsive individual near Alegre Circle and Highway 85/87 in Fountain.

Seeking Justice for Christian Cook

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders and later identified as Christian Cook by the El Paso County Coroner. Following his tragic death, Cook’s family pleaded with the community for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the perpetrator.

“The not knowing is horrible,” expressed Michelle Cook, Christian’s mother, in an interview with FOX21 News in April 2023. With the recent arrest, the family is one step closer to achieving justice for their loved one.
