A Kia SUV lost control in rainy weather conditions and collided head-on with a black Mercedes Benz SUV, resulting in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of three individuals, including two children, on the 15 Freeway near Baker in San Bernardino County, California.

Identified Victims

The San Bernardino County Medical Examiner has identified the victims as Alicia Ramos, a 43-year-old woman from Madera, her 13-year-old son Isaac Velasco, and an 11-year-old boy from Los Angeles named Derek Mateo German.

Details of the Crash

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 1:44 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon on northbound Interstate 15, just south of the Halloran Springs Road off-ramp. Reports indicate that the Kia SUV hydroplaned in the rain and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with the Mercedes Benz SUV.

Tragic Outcome

Alicia Ramos was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Isaac Velasco and Derek German tragically lost their lives at the scene of the crash. Four other individuals, including a 3-year-old child with a severed arm, were airlifted to the hospital for treatment. The mother of the child suffered paralysis as a result of the accident.
