In Bellingham, Washington, a man found himself in hot water after causing an accident and attempting to flee the scene. The incident took place on a busy Saturday afternoon, causing chaos on the streets of the bustling city.

The Crash

According to Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters, officers were called to the scene of a crash that occurred on Holly St. A pickup truck driver reported that he had been rear-ended by a van while waiting at a red light. The impact of the crash was so severe that the driver of the pickup truck was briefly knocked unconscious and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The Attempted Escape

As officers arrived at the scene, they noticed the driver of the van trying to make a quick getaway. However, his escape attempt was short-lived as the van crashed into a pole near F St., bringing his reckless journey to an abrupt halt.

The Arrest

Upon making contact with the van driver, a 52-year-old man, officers immediately detected the strong smell of alcohol emanating from him. As a result, the driver now faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and vehicular assault, adding to the severity of his already reckless actions.
