The Tragic Incident in Sedona, Arizona

Last week, a devastating incident occurred in the picturesque town of Sedona, Arizona. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distressing report that a woman from Toledo had fallen down a 140-foot cliff on Bear Mountain while hiking with her husband and 10-month-old child.

Discovery of the Injured Woman

A group of hikers who were passing by heard cries for help and rushed to the scene. They discovered that the woman, identified as 40-year-old Zaynab Joseph of Toledo, was seriously injured. Despite their efforts to assist her, she tragically passed away shortly after.

Emergency Response

Sedona Fire was the first to arrive on the scene and sadly confirmed Joseph’s passing. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office mobilized their Search and Rescue (SAR) teams, and a DPS Ranger helicopter was also called in to provide assistance. The husband and child were safely flown off the mountain, while the victim was recovered with the help of the DPS Ranger and SAR volunteers.

The family, who were staying at an Airbnb in Sedona, is now grieving the loss of their loved one. YCSO conducted multiple interviews with hikers who were on the mountain at the time of the incident.
