Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Tragic Murder in an East Oak Cliff Parking Lot

One of the suspects facing a murder charge in the slaying of a woman in a parking lot in east Oak Cliff, Dallas, has been arrested. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning on April 13, when officers responded to a call in the 4400 block of South Marsalis Avenue. They found a woman, later identified as 30-year-old Shaketta Johnson, dead in her vehicle after being shot multiple times.

Suspects Identified in the Crime

Days after the killing, the police released images and the identities of two suspects involved in the shooting. The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Keylan Bowens and 24-year-old Denute Bell. Bell remains at large, while Bowens has been arrested and is currently in custody at the Dallas County jail on a $1 million bond.

Details of the Shooting

During the investigation, detectives were able to locate surveillance footage of the shooting. The footage showed a blue Mazda car pulling in front of Johnson’s vehicle. Bell, sitting in the front passenger seat, pointed a rifle out the window and fired a single shot at Johnson as the vehicle came to a stop. Bowens then exited the driver’s seat, took the rifle from Bell, and chased Johnson’s car on foot. Johnson eventually crashed her vehicle, and Bowens fired multiple shots before both suspects fled the scene.

Motive Behind the Murder

Police later discovered that Bowens had been involved in a previous shooting at the same location, where he was shot in the neck by Johnson less than a week before the incident. Bowens had reportedly made statements to individuals that he was going to get even for being shot, which led to the tragic murder of Shaketta Johnson.

With one suspect in custody and the other still at large, the investigation into the murder in the east Oak Cliff parking lot continues as the community mourns the loss of Shaketta Johnson.
