Accident – Death – Obituary News : Vadodara: In a significant operation ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the local crime branch (LCB) made a major breakthrough by seizing a massive quantity of liquor from Manjusar on Saturday night. The incident took place near Ajod village on the Vadodara-Ahmedabad Expressway, where vigilant police officers intercepted a truck that was suspected to be carrying the contraband.
The driver of the truck, identified as Khicharam Jaat, a resident of Rajasthan, was questioned by the authorities. Jaat confessed to transporting a hidden stock of liquor in the rear of the vehicle. Following his admission, the police proceeded to seize the truck and uncover the large quantity of liquor bottles.
A staggering total of 29,856 bottles packed in 958 boxes were discovered inside the truck, with an estimated value of Rs 46 lakh. Jaat revealed to the police that he had been recruited for the task while working in Gandhidham. He had been tasked with driving the truck loaded with liquor from Vapi to Jamnagar, with instructions to contact a man named Ganpat upon reaching the final destination.
Subsequently, Jaat was taken into custody by the authorities, who have now initiated a search for Ganpat. In light of this incident, the police have heightened their surveillance and monitoring activities on the highways, as the smuggling of liquor is anticipated to escalate in the lead-up to the polls.
