Last Wednesday, a devastating incident unfolded at a multi-family home on Geneva Ave. in Wallingford. Police suspect that a woman and child had already passed away before a suspicious fire broke out at the residence.

Emergency Response

Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving a distressing 911 call reporting screams coming from inside the home. Fire crews found a man, identified as Justin Varnado, outside the burning building with severe burns. Despite being airlifted to a nearby burn center, Varnado tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Upon entering the home, firefighters discovered the lifeless bodies of Karizmah Johnson and 9-month-old Kylenn (Jasir) Varnado. The incident was quickly labelled as a suspicious death investigation by Wallingford Police Chief John Ventura.
