Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Payal police in Ludhiana have recently booked the driver of a Scorpio vehicle after an elderly couple tragically lost their lives in a road accident. The victims, identified as Jarnail Singh and his wife Rajwinder Kaur, were involved in the accident on Saturday.
According to the complainant, Amarjit Singh, his uncle and aunt were on their way back from Rara Sahib gurdwara on their Activa scooter when the incident occurred. Amarjit, who was following behind them, witnessed a speeding Scorpio vehicle coming from the direction of the gurdwara colliding with the elderly couple near Ghudani Kalan village.
Sadly, Jarnail Singh was killed on the spot, while his wife Rajwinder Kaur succumbed to her injuries at DMC Hospital in Ludhiana. The driver of the Scorpio, identified as Sandeep Singh from Lamme Jatpura village in Jagraon, fled the scene after the accident.
The police have booked Sandeep under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rash driving, mischief causing damage, and causing death by negligence. However, the accused is yet to be apprehended.
Jarnail Singh, a 60-year-old tailor with a shop on Samrala Road in Bija, leaves behind a son who had recently moved to Canada. The tragic incident has left the family and the community in mourning.
