Tragic Incident Claims Second Victim in Brenham DPS Crash

Tragedy struck the Texas Department of Public Safety’s office in Brenham earlier this month, as a second victim has now succumbed to injuries sustained in the intentional 18-wheeler crash that shocked the community. The DPS confirmed the heartbreaking news in a recent post on X.

Victim Identified as Cheryl Turner

The second victim has been identified as Cheryl Turner, a 63-year-old resident of Brenham. Turner was among the six individuals who were rushed to hospitals following the crash on April 12. Another unidentified victim remains in critical condition, with their current status unknown at this time. The DPS has not provided any further comments on the matter.

Bobby Huff, 78, was airlifted to CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan after the crash, where he sadly passed away shortly thereafter, according to a statement from the DPS.

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

Clenard Parker, 42, is facing a total of nine charges, including one murder charge, with bail set at $4.05 million as per county records. It remains unclear whether Parker will face an additional murder charge in connection with Turner’s tragic death. The Washington County district attorney’s office and the sheriff’s office have yet to provide any comments on the ongoing investigation.

The fateful incident unfolded after Parker was denied a renewal of his commercial driver’s license at the DPS office near U.S. 290 the day prior to the crash. On the day of the collision, Parker stole a truck and led law enforcement on a pursuit that culminated in the devastating crash at the DPS office, as revealed by the Texas Rangers during a press conference held in the aftermath.
