In a bizarre turn of events, a 74-year-old woman from Ohio has been accused of robbing a bank at gunpoint in Fairfield Township. Ann Mayers, a resident of Hamilton, was arrested on Friday and charged with felony counts of aggravated robbery with a firearm and tampering with evidence, according to Butler County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.

Incident Details

The Fairfield Township Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at the AurGroup Credit Union in Fairfield at 1:29 p.m. EDT on Friday. Bank employees informed officers that the suspect, later identified as Mayers, demanded money while brandishing a firearm.

Arrest and Confession

After fleeing the scene in a silver 2014 Hyundai Elantra, Mayers was apprehended at her residence in Hamilton. She allegedly admitted to officers that she had committed the robbery. Authorities discovered a handgun and other evidence inside Mayers’ vehicle, leading to her arrest.

Legal Proceedings

Mayers is currently in custody at the Butler County Jail, awaiting a court appearance. Despite not having a criminal record prior to this incident, she now faces serious charges related to the armed robbery.
