Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded outside Mankhurd railway station on Sunday afternoon, where a six-year-old boy, Aayush Rajesh Shegokar, lost his life in a heartbreaking drowning accident. The young boy, who resided with his family in Mahatma Phule Nagar, was playing near the railway station when he accidentally fell into a pit filled with water.

The Vashi Government railway police have taken swift action by registering a case of negligence against the contractor responsible for the construction work near the station. Senior police inspector Sambhaji Katare revealed that the pit, which was nine feet deep, had accumulated water due to the ongoing construction activities led by the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Ltd.

Eyewitnesses reported that a concerned passenger noticed the boy in distress and rushed to his aid, pulling him out of the water-filled pit. However, despite the prompt rescue efforts, Aayush could not be saved. He was immediately taken to Shatabdi hospital by the Vashi GRP personnel, where he was declared dead upon arrival.

Katare highlighted the importance of understanding the circumstances leading to the tragic incident, stating, “We are trying to ascertain whether there were other children playing with him at the time of the accident.” The family of the deceased has lodged a complaint, prompting the Vashi GRP to take legal action against the contractor for negligence.

The community in Mahatma Phule Nagar is in shock and mourning the untimely loss of young Aayush. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the need for stringent safety measures at construction sites to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to ensure accountability and justice for the bereaved family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time..
