Tragic Fire Incident Claims the Life of a Two-Year-Old Girl in Sopore, Kashmir
On a fateful Sunday afternoon in the picturesque village of Tarzoo in north Kashmir’s Sopore area, a devastating fire broke out in a residential house, claiming the life of a two-year-old girl and leaving her grandmother with burn injuries. The deceased child, Rida, was the daughter of Tanveer Ahmad Lone, a resident of Wanigam Pattan, while her grandmother, Rafiqa Begum, bravely tried to save her amidst the raging flames.
The fire, which started at around 1:10 PM, engulfed the two-storied house in Tarzoo village, prompting a swift response from the Fire and Emergency Service team. Despite their efforts, the flames proved to be too intense, resulting in the tragic loss of young Rida and leaving her grandmother in a critical condition.
Eye-Witness Account
Bilal Ahmad, an eyewitness to the incident, recounted the harrowing events that unfolded on that fateful day. According to him, the fire was caused by a short circuit that occurred around 12:30 PM. Despite the valiant efforts of the locals to extinguish the flames, the fire quickly spread throughout the house, ultimately leading to the untimely demise of the innocent child.
Rida had recently arrived in Tarzoo village to visit her maternal uncle after celebrating Eid ul Fitr. Tragically, she was sleeping in the “Hamam” room when the fire broke out, trapping her inside. Her grandmother, in a desperate attempt to rescue her beloved granddaughter, sustained severe injuries in the process.

Following the heartbreaking incident, the community of Tarzoo village came together to offer their condolences and support to the grieving family in Sopore. As the sun set on that somber Sunday evening, the minor was laid to rest, surrounded by the love and prayers of hundreds of people from nearby villages.
