Three Held for Attempted Snatching on 85-Year-Old Man in Sector 37, Chandigarh

On a quiet Friday night in Sector 37, Chandigarh, a disturbing incident took place as three men attempted to snatch the belongings of an 85-year-old man while he was out for a leisurely walk near his residence. The victim, Om Parkash Sadana, recounted the harrowing experience to the police, stating that as he strolled near his house at 8:30 pm, he was targeted by three young individuals who tried to rob him of the cash he had in his pocket.

The accused individuals, identified as Kuber Inder Singh Hundle, Rajat Singh, and Aman Singh, hail from various parts of the city, with Kuber residing in Phase 2, Mohali, and Rajat and Aman from Sector 38, Chandigarh. What makes this incident even more alarming is the fact that all three perpetrators are repeat offenders who have previously served time in jail for various criminal activities, according to Chandigarh Police.


All three accused are repeat offenders and have served jail time in different cases, said Chandigarh Police.

Background of the Accused

Accused Kuber, a BSc degree holder, had been arrested in a previous snatching case in October 2023 but was granted bail in February 2024. Rajat, on the other hand, had faced charges in two separate incidents of assault and robbery and was released on bail in December 2023. Aman’s involvement in a robbery case from May 2023 led to his arrest, and he was released on bail in November of the same year. The recent snatching attempt on Om Parkash Sadana has resulted in a fresh case being registered against all three individuals at the Sector 39 police station.

Incidents like these serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and safety precautions, especially for vulnerable members of society such as the elderly. The swift action taken by the police in apprehending the suspects is commendable and sends a strong message that such criminal activities will not be tolerated in our community.
