Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident occurred along the Kampala-Jinja highway in Buikwe District, where a 54-year-old Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officer lost his life in a fatal accident. The officer, identified as Major Nsamba Habib Katakabire, was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser when the accident took place at Sanga-Mabira, near the new picnic site.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. on a Friday when Major Nsamba attempted to overtake several vehicles. In the process, his vehicle collided with a trailer coming from the opposite direction, as well as a Toyota Corona Premio. The driver of the trailer, Muhammad Kasozi, also perished in the accident, while the driver of the Toyota Corona Premio, PC Isaac Kayondo, sustained injuries and was rushed to Kawolo Hospital for treatment.

Just a day before this unfortunate incident, another fatal crash occurred in Mpigi, claiming the lives of three people. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Fuso and a Subaru Forester at Kasuule Ayanguwa Swamp in Kamengo along the Masaka-Kampala highway. The driver of the Subaru Forester and two other occupants lost their lives, while another occupant sustained critical injuries and was taken to Double Cure in Mpigi for medical attention. The bodies were transported to Gombe Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
