Accident – Death – Obituary News : A horrifying incident unfolded in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur last night, as a man brutally attacked his own family, resulting in the tragic deaths of his wife and seven-year-old daughter. The man, identified as Shahidul Islam, also caused serious injuries to his 14-year-old son before being apprehended by authorities.
The victims, Morzina Begum and Afrin, were the wife and daughter of Shahidul Islam, residents of Neyatpur Chinirchara village in Nawabganj. The injured son, Al Amin, is currently receiving medical treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, as confirmed by both police and family sources.
According to reports, Shahidul was taken into custody from the village shortly after the brutal attack. The officer-in-charge of Nawabganj Police Station, Tauhidul Islam, revealed that Shahidul admitted to the crime during initial questioning.
The tragic sequence of events began when Shahidul engaged in a heated argument with Morzina and resorted to violence, striking her with a bamboo pole. Upon witnessing the altercation, the children attempted to intervene and protect their mother, only to be met with the same violent outburst from Shahidul.
Shahidul’s father, Sohrab Hossain, recounted the harrowing details, describing how he rushed to the scene upon hearing the commotion. Despite his efforts to seek medical assistance for Morzina and her children, the injuries proved fatal. Morzina succumbed to her wounds at a local doctor’s clinic, while Afrin tragically passed away at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Authorities were promptly alerted to the situation, leading to Shahidul’s arrest by Nawabganj police. The body of Morzina was transferred to the morgue of M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital for further examination.
The motive behind this senseless act of violence was reportedly a family dispute, as stated by the officer-in-charge. The community is left in shock and mourning over the loss of innocent lives due to this tragic incident, underscoring the importance of addressing domestic conflicts before they escalate to such devastating outcomes..
