Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Details of the Red Fort Road Rage Murder Case

Almost a week after a tragic incident near Red Fort, the Delhi Police have finally arrested the accused after a brief exchange of fire. The accused, Firoz Khan, allegedly shot dead a cab driver on April 15 following a road rage incident that spiraled out of control.

Manoj Kumar Meena, DCP (North), revealed that the police received a tip-off about Firoz’s whereabouts on Sunday. Upon locating him in the Kotwali area, the police team confronted him. However, Firoz resorted to violence by firing a gun shot at the police, prompting them to fire back in self-defence. The accused sustained injuries to his left leg and was swiftly taken to Aruna Asif Ali Hospital for medical treatment.

Sequence of Events

The investigation revealed that Khan had fatally shot 36-year-old cab driver Mohammad Sakib and also fired at a teenager named Luv Khush. The incident stemmed from a road rage altercation when Khan’s Maruti Wagon-R collided with an e-rickshaw, leading to an argument between him and the e-rickshaw driver. The situation escalated as others, including the victims, got involved, resulting in Sakib being assaulted. In the chaos, his mobile phone was stolen, and his pocket was picked.

As the assailants attempted to flee, Sakib managed to catch one of them, who then shot him before escaping. The police had previously apprehended three individuals, including a woman, in connection with the case.

Police Action and Arrest

DCP Manoj Kumar Meena commended the swift action taken by the police in tracking down and apprehending the accused. With the cooperation of informers and a dedicated team, Firoz Khan was successfully captured, despite his resistance and use of arms. The police’s prompt response and effective handling of the situation led to the arrest of the prime suspect in the Red Fort road rage murder case.

As the investigation continues and justice is sought for the victims, the Delhi Police remain vigilant in maintaining law and order in the city.
