Two Milwaukee Men Charged with Multiple Felonies in Connection with North Side Shootings

MILWAUKEE – Two young men from Milwaukee are facing a total of 14 felony charges following investigations into two separate shootings that occurred more than a month apart.

21-year-old Lazerrick Wade and 19-year-old Damari Towns are accused of being involved in violent incidents on the city’s north side. Prosecutors allege that Wade was responsible for injuring two individuals in different shootings, with one incident involving him showcasing a weapon to a potential buyer. Towns, on the other hand, is facing charges related to multiple weapons offenses.

Incident at 14th and North

The first shooting took place on March 3 at 14th and North, where Milwaukee police responded to reports of gunfire. According to a criminal complaint, a victim inside a residence was struck by bullets fired from outside, sustaining serious injuries.

Investigating officers discovered bullet casings from a rifle near the scene, and surveillance footage captured Wade and Towns in the vicinity. Wade was seen firing a rifle towards the victim’s home before fleeing the scene with Towns, who was observed carrying a handgun.

Over a month later, on April 5, another shooting involving Wade occurred near 56th and Locust. The victim in this incident suffered a gunshot wound to the face and required medical attention.

Evidence from the scene indicated a high volume of gunfire, with numerous bullet holes and casings found in and around the property. Surveillance footage revealed two individuals firing weapons at the house, with one firearm discharging in a fully automatic mode.

Arrest and Charges

On April 11, police apprehended Wade and Towns after surrounding their vehicle. Wade attempted to flee but was captured near 15th and North, where he discarded a firearm equipped with a device to convert it into an automatic weapon. Towns remained in the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.

During a search of the premises where Wade was apprehended, law enforcement recovered evidence linking him to the shootings, including spent rifle casings and clothing matching that worn by the shooter in the March 3 incident.

Wade admitted to discharging the rifle to demonstrate its authenticity to a potential buyer and denied involvement in the April 5 shooting. Towns confessed to being present during the first incident and claimed the firearm found in the vehicle belonged to Wade.

Court Proceedings

Wade is currently facing eight felony charges, including reckless injury and endangerment, as well as firearm-related offenses. He appeared in court on April 17, with a cash bond set at $75,000.

Towns, charged with six felonies, such as possession of a firearm and bail jumping, had his initial court appearance on April 18, with a cash bond set at $15,000.

The legal process is ongoing as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding these violent incidents in Milwaukee.
