Tragic Van-Truck Collision Claims 9 Lives in Jhalawar, Rajasthan

Tragedy struck on the Bhopal-Jhalawar highway near the Aklera area in Rajasthan late on Sunday night, as a van carrying 10 people collided head-on with a speeding truck, resulting in the loss of nine lives. The incident, which occurred around 3am, has left the local community in shock and mourning.

Details of the Incident

According to Sandeep Vishnoi, the Aklera police Station House Officer (SHO), the van was returning to Jhalawar from a wedding in Madhya Pradesh when it collided with the truck on NH-52. The impact of the collision was devastating, with the van passengers sustaining severe injuries.

Local residents and police teams quickly responded to the scene of the accident, transporting the injured individuals to a nearby hospital. Tragically, nine of the passengers were declared dead upon arrival, while one person was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.

Victims Identified

The victims of this horrific accident have been identified as Hemraj Bagri (33), Ravishankar Bagri (25), Ashok Kumar (24), Deepak Bagri (24), Sonu Bagri (22), Rohit Jagadish (22), Ramkrishna Premchand (20), Saraula Premchand (20), and Rohit Bagri (16). Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Legal Action Taken

SHO Vishnoi confirmed that the truck involved in the collision has been seized, and the driver has been arrested from a nearby village. The driver has been charged under sections 279 (rash driving endangering human life) and 304A (death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation into the circumstances of the collision is currently underway.
