In the bustling city of North Las Vegas, a peaceful evening turned into chaos as a fight between neighbors escalated into a dangerous situation involving a pickaxe. The incident took place on the 1100 block of Stone River Drive, a quiet residential area near Civic Center Drive and Carey Avenue.

Details of the Altercation

According to reports from North Las Vegas police, the altercation began on a Saturday evening around 10 p.m. when officers were called to the scene. The fight between neighbors quickly spiraled out of control, with one of the individuals arming themselves with a pickaxe, a shocking and dangerous turn of events.

Police Response

Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers were met with resistance as the armed neighbor retreated into his home and refused to come out. Due to the escalating nature of the situation, the NLVPD Detective Bureau and SWAT team were called in to address the barricade and ensure the safety of all involved.

Resolution and Arrest

After hours of negotiation and tense standoffs, the neighbor, identified as 51-year-old Efrain Chavarin, finally emerged from his home around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. He was promptly taken into custody by North Las Vegas police and transported to the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center.
