Woman Arrested for OWI After Chase in Tippecanoe County

Tippecanoe County, Indiana – Indiana State Police arrested a woman on charges of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) after a chase in Tippecanoe County on Friday night. The incident occurred on State Road 26 around 11:30 p.m.

Reckless Driving Report

The police received a report about a reckless driver on State Road 26, heading eastbound towards Lafayette. Troopers responded to the area and located a 2015 GMC Yukon that matched the description of the reckless vehicle reported earlier.

Attempted Traffic Stop

A trooper attempted to stop the driver of the Yukon near Frontage Road for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Dawn Goodroad from South Dakota, ignored the stop and fled northbound on Interstate 65 from SR 26.

Chase and Arrest

The trooper followed Goodroad until she reached mile marker 178 on I-65, where deputies from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit. Goodroad eventually stopped at mile marker 179 and was apprehended. During the investigation, it was suspected that Goodroad was driving under the influence.

Charges and Penalties

Law enforcement took Goodroad to the Tippecanoe County Jail, where she was preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle is a Level 6 Felony in Indiana, carrying a maximum penalty of a 2.5-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
