MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The tranquil rural setting of Marshalltown, Iowa was shattered by a tragic incident that has left the community reeling. The Iowa Department of Public Safety has issued an urgent plea for assistance from the public in locating a suspect linked to a double homicide that occurred in a peaceful neighbourhood on 182nd Street.

Authorities were alerted to the distressing scene in the early hours of Friday, April 19, 2024, when Marshall County Deputies responded to a welfare check at 2645 182nd Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of two individuals, identified as Mario Murillo, aged 28, from Marshalltown, and Frances Tillie Gasca, aged 33, also from Marshalltown.

Suspect at Large

The investigation conducted by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has led to the identification of Ilias Julian Lasley, aged 29, as the prime suspect in the heinous crime. Lasley has been charged with two counts of Murder in the 1st Degree in connection to the deaths of Mr. Murillo and Ms. Gasca. Authorities have issued a warning that Lasley is considered armed and dangerous, urging the public not to approach him if spotted but to immediately contact law enforcement agencies.
