Authorities in Ventura County are currently investigating after a body washed ashore on Sandy Dune Beach along Pacific Coast Highway. The body, identified only as a man in his 30s, was discovered by deputies on Wednesday. Medical crews pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigation Underway

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Major Crime Investigators and the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the beach to conduct a thorough investigation. The cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the man’s passing remain unclear at this time.

Uncertainty Surrounding the Incident

“Anytime a body is found in the ocean, it is always regarded as suspicious,” explained VCSO Capt. Dean Worthy. “However, at this time, they are investigating if it was a homicide, suicide, or an accident.

Call for Information

The official cause of death and the man’s identity will be released by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. Anyone with information about the incident or who may know the man’s identity is urged to contact Sergeant Craig Hennes at 805-384-4744.
