Manipur Police have taken into custody three individuals linked to a shooting occurrence at a polling booth located in Imphal East district during the initial phase of the Lok Sabha elections in the state on Friday. The arrest was made after the suspects attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle and were later captured less than 5 km away from the polling station.

Identification of the three accused, Leichombam Jemson Singh (34), Nongthombam Ratan (47), and Khumukcham Angamba (32), was confirmed by the police through a social media post. The police further disclosed that the suspects were in possession of a .32 pistol with eight live bullets, three mobile phones, a car, and Rs 1.5 lakhs in cash at the time of their arrest.
