Authorities in Florida have apprehended a suspect in connection with a fatal carjacking incident that occurred last week, which was captured on video by a witness. They are also actively searching for a second individual who has been identified through the victim’s brother’s own investigation.

Arrest Made in Seminole County

Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma announced that Jordanish Torres-Garcia was arrested on Friday, with investigators linking him to the green Acura involved in the violent carjacking. The shocking footage shows Torres-Garcia exiting the Acura, brandishing a weapon at victim Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, and then entering her vehicle. Tragically, Aguasvivas’s burnt body was later discovered inside the vehicle in Osceola County.

The Acura was later abandoned in Orlando and was tied to a murder in Orange County the day prior to Aguasvivas’s death. Lemma has labelled Torres-Garcia, aged 28, as a person of interest in the carjacking and revealed that he was apprehended on an outstanding weapons warrant from Puerto Rico.

On-Going Investigation and Search for Second Suspect

Authorities are awaiting phone records and other crucial documents to solidify their case. Lemma expressed confidence that these records will help piece together the remaining aspects of the investigation. Additionally, an image from Torres-Garcia’s social media profile appears to show him wearing identical clothing to the gunman in the carjacking video.

Identification of Second Individual

The second individual, identified as Giovany Joel Crespo Hernandez, remains at large. Aguasvivas’s brother conducted his own investigation, accessing her iCloud account to determine that Hernandez was the last person she communicated with. Hernandez was reportedly informed by the brother that Aguasvivas was en route to deliver money and other items for a friend.

A search of Hernandez’s residence led to the discovery of drugs and a firearm, although it was not the same weapon used in the carjacking. Federal agents arrested Hernandez’s girlfriend after she accepted a delivery of cocaine through the mail, but Hernandez himself remains a fugitive.

Unusual Behavior from Family Members

Lemma described the brother’s independent investigation as highly unusual and emphasized the lack of cooperation from Aguasvivas’s husband. While neither family member is considered a suspect or person of interest, their level of assistance to law enforcement has been called into question.
