On a fateful Thursday morning, tragedy struck in Winkler County, TX, as a 42-year-old man from Bowie lost his life in a fatal car accident. The incident occurred near mile marker 232 of State Highway 302, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The victim, identified as Gaylon Ray Love, was driving a 2023 Ram pickup truck eastbound on State Highway 302 when the accident took place. As he travelled in the left lane, a 2016 Freightliner truck-tractor with a trailer, operated by 37-year-old Emmanuel Octavio Ortega-Diaz, was heading westbound on the same highway.
Tragically, Love veered onto the wrong side of the road, resulting in a collision with Ortega-Diaz’s vehicle. The impact caused Love’s vehicle to roll over, leading to him being ejected from the truck. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Love was pronounced dead at the scene.
