Construction Site Tragedy in Vashi Leads to Worker’s Death

In a devastating turn of events, the Vashi police have taken action against the safety officer and sub-contractor of a construction site following a fatal accident that claimed the life of a worker. The incident occurred at a new water tank construction site for the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

Details of the Incident

The victim, Arsad Hasibuddin Alam, a 31-year-old laborer from Katihar, Bihar, was working at the construction site when the tragic accident took place. On April 14, at around 11:30 am, while other workers were removing centering material on the third level of the water tanker, Alam was positioned below. It was during this process that heavy iron material fell, causing serious injuries to Alam’s chest, stomach, and legs. Despite being rushed to General Hospital in Vashi, he sadly passed away on the night of April 18.

Negligence Charges

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the safety officer, Shankar Ganeshan from Swastik Construction, and the sub-contractor, Shankar Shah, failed to fulfill their duties of proper supervision, resulting in the tragic accident. Both individuals have been charged under Section 304 A of the IPC for negligence leading to death.

The Vashi police have taken swift action in response to this heartbreaking incident, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strict safety protocols at construction sites to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring.
