Tragic Clash Leads to Deaths and Injuries at Sangrur Jail
Two undertrials in their mid-20s tragically lost their lives while two others sustained injuries in a violent clash between two groups within Sangrur jail on Friday evening. The incident has left the community in shock and raised questions about the safety and security of inmates in the facility.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Harsh and Dharminder, while the injured parties are Gagandeep Singh and Mohd Shahbaz. The two undertrials who were fatally injured succumbed to their wounds at the hospital, while the other two have been transferred to Rajindra Medical College and Hospital in Patiala, where they are currently in critical condition.
Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police, Sartaj Singh Chahal, has confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the clash. “We have already apprehended eight individuals in connection with the incident,” he stated, emphasizing the seriousness with which law enforcement is treating the matter.
