In a tragic turn of events, the Killeen Police Department in Texas is currently investigating the city’s fifth homicide of 2024. The incident took place on April 17 at around 10:05 p.m. in the 900 block of Southside Drive. The authorities were alerted to a shooting in the area and immediately responded to the scene.
Discovery of the Victim
Upon arrival, responding officers discovered a 33-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as Tres Maurice Carter, was found in critical condition. EMS personnel quickly initiated life-saving measures and transported him to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center for further treatment.
Tragic Outcome
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Tres Maurice Carter succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 10:44 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Nicola James. The news of his passing has undoubtedly devastated his loved ones and the community at large.

During their investigation, the police apprehended a 22-year-old male suspect at the scene. The individual was promptly taken into custody and is currently being held at the Killeen City Jail.
