A routine traffic stop in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has led to the arrest of a man wanted for murder, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Details of the Arrest

The incident took place on April 17, 2024, when an officer patrolling the 4800 block of Plank Road noticed a vehicle with no headlights on around 11 p.m.

Upon attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle turned onto the 3400 block of Sycamore Street.

The driver, later identified as Tremal Baker, fled from the vehicle with a firearm in hand after being stopped by the officer, according to BRPD.

Following a brief pursuit, Baker was apprehended by law enforcement.

Connection to Murder Case

Baker was wanted by BRPD in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old Tamine Richardson in December 2023, which also resulted in another individual being injured.

As a result of the traffic stop and subsequent foot chase, Baker was taken into custody and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on various charges.

This arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the tragic shooting incident.
