Tragic Shooting Incident in Lawton Leaves One Dead
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a Sunday shooting in Lawton, Oklahoma resulted in the tragic death of Mikayla Blackeagle. The incident took place on SE Alta Lane, where 26-year-old Joshua Pedro has been charged with first-degree murder and feloniously pointing a firearm.
According to court documents, officers responded to a distressing scene where they found the lifeless body of Blackeagle. Pedro, who is identified as a relative of the victim, confessed to the heinous crime during a police interview.
The altercation between Pedro and Blackeagle escalated quickly, leading to a fatal confrontation. Surveillance footage revealed that the two individuals, along with a friend, were on the porch when the argument turned violent. Pedro brandished a gun and fired multiple shots at Blackeagle, with the weapon jamming at one point.
After reloading the firearm, Pedro continued his attack, firing more rounds at Blackeagle before walking away. The evidence collected by investigators included 13 spent casings and one live round, painting a grim picture of the incident.
