Details of the Incident in Salisbury

In Salisbury, a city in North Carolina, a disturbing incident unfolded on Monday night that led to the arrest of a couple involved in a shooting. The incident took place in the 400 block of North Craige Street, where police responded to reports of shots fired.

Response from Law Enforcement

Upon arriving at the scene, officers were informed that a young woman, identified as 20-year-old Kierra Lanay McCoy, had been brought to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center with a gunshot wound. The victim claimed that she was in a car on North Craige Street when an unknown assailant fired shots at the vehicle, injuring her.

Attempted Evidence Tampering

As the police began their investigation, they cordoned off the area around the car and a nearby house, which belonged to McCoy’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Marcellus Anque Steele. During the search of the car, McCoy returned from the hospital and allegedly tried to remove narcotics and her phone from the vehicle in an attempt to tamper with evidence. She was apprehended by the officers after a brief chase on foot.

Subsequently, Steele also returned from the hospital and allegedly attempted to remove something from the car. Law enforcement officers intervened and arrested him at the scene.

Discovery of Firearms

During a thorough search of the premises, the police discovered four firearms inside the house. Among them was a stolen firearm and a Glock handgun that had been modified to fire automatically instead of semi-automatically.

Legal Consequences

As a result of their actions, McCoy was charged with felony altering, destroying, or stealing evidence of criminal conduct, while Steele faced a slew of charges including possession of controlled substances, possessing a stolen firearm, and obstruction of justice. Both individuals were taken into custody and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center, awaiting further legal proceedings.

Incidents like these serve as a reminder of the importance of preserving evidence and cooperating with law enforcement in criminal investigations.
